The Ipogeo dei Cristallini in the heart of the Rione Sanità of Naples opens to the public from 1 July 2022, a rare and incredible testimony of Hellenistic painting and architecture that represents a unicum of history, archeology, myths and colors.
The initiative was presented (Friday 24 June) in a press conference at the MANN – National Archaeological Museum of Naples by Vincenzo De Luca, President of the Campania Region, Gaetano Manfredi, Mayor of Naples, Luigi La Rocca, Superintendent of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Municipality of Naples, Alessandra Marino, Director of ICR-Central Institute for Restoration, together with Paolo Giulierini, Director of MANN – National Archaeological Museum of Naples and Alessandra Calise Martuscelli, Director of the Ipogeo dei Cristallini. Also present were Father Antonio Loffredo and Ibrahim Al-Marashi, history professor at California State University San Marcos.
The meeting, coordinated by Antonio Galdo, inaugurated the opening of the new site by welcoming guests in the splendid Sala del Toro Farnese and offering the opportunity to admire the exhibition of the Hellenistic finds from the Hypogeum of Crystals preserved at the MANN. The event was accompanied by the notes of Schumann and Listz played on the piano by Sara Amoresano.
