Over 700 pieces on display

The funeral furniture

The incredible discovery of the Baron of Donato was not only to bring to light the four hypogea in via dei Cristallini, but also the discovery of the funeral equipment. Over 700 pieces, first preserved by the Baron and then by the Martuscelli family, which together with the Soprintendenza of Naples have been kept for many years.

The numerous and interesting finds were already used to set up a room at the MANN, to tell the Magna Graecia (the history of Ancient Neapolis) in the Ancient Naples section.

The restoration work on the painted decoration of the site, for an imminent opening to the public, will also include the display of this wonderful collection, which will offer an experience of using a site we could say “alive”.
